MLK Brickstone Apartments

The MLK Brickstone is a 48-unit apartment community located along the M.L. King Parkway corridor which connects the Sherman Hill and Drake neighborhoods of Des Moines. Its architectural design is modeled after our Baltimore Style successful Woodland Avenue Brickstone in Sherman Hill.

This project marked the first partnership between Ryan Galloway and Hatch Development Group. Ryan, who lived in an old house on the property, gradually acquired the surrounding vacant land to make this development possible.

Designed to blend seamlessly into the neighborhood, the MLK Brickstone features:

• A brick façade that frames the sidewalk, reinforcing the pedestrian-friendly streetscape

• Five separate staircases providing direct sidewalk access, creating a townhome-style feel

• Geothermal heating and cooling for energy efficiency

• Nine-foot ceilings and exposed ductwork for a modern, loft-style aesthetic

• A computer center, laundry room, and stylish balconies for resident comfort

Conveniently located on Des Moines’ near north side, the MLK Brickstone offers beautiful views of downtown and the State Capitol, along with easy access to Western Des Moines via nearby Interstate 235.
