Harris 10th St. Brickstone
Cedar Rapids, IA • 2015

Summary
The Harris 10th St. Brickstone is HKG Development’s fourth Brickstone-style apartment building in Cedar Rapids, located just three blocks from the Oak Hill Jackson Brickstone. Adjacent to the city’s Medical District and four blocks from the NewBo City Market, this three-story, 30-unit development provides a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments in a mixed-income community, partially funded through federal flood assistance.
Named in honor of Dr. Percy Harris, the first African American Linn County Medical Director, the Harris was the 39th new housing project built in Cedar Rapids following the 2008 flood, which destroyed 1,400 homes and displaced thousands of residents.
At the dedication ceremony, Mayor Ron Corbett recognized the development’s impact, stating: "The single most important thing a city can do after the flood is to rebuild its housing stock, and today, the Harris is one of the best examples of the quality of our new housing."
By providing high-quality, affordable housing, the Harris 10th St. Brickstone stands as a symbol of Cedar Rapids’ resilience and commitment to rebuilding stronger communities.
